Boston: Chinese Art Society Praise Shen Yun

Mr. Lin, President of the American Chinese Art Society (ACAS) saw Shen Yun at the Boston Opera House at the weekend. He was impressed and felt spiritually fulfilled from seeing the show.

“It’s not just appreciation, and watching it, then saying I’m really pleased and well, it’s just great. It’s not just like that–I also felt a kind of spiritual fulfillment from watching the show, it’s really something different. Something that can’t be obtained from reading novels or watching other kinds of performances.“

[Jade Lin, American Chinese Art Society, Executive Director]:
“There are a lot of really difficult movements that form the basis of classical Chinese dance, and they performed all of these quite well. I really commend how each of the performers gave it their all.“

Artist, Mr. Tong was moved by the traditions in the show.

“This kind of traditional Chinese spirit, such as the relationship between good and evil, the concept of reincarnation, these ideas were totally natural and expected in Chinese tradition, and to use these different means to pass on the tradition–I think it’s really moving.“

Mr. Tan from Mainland China is now open to a new perspective after the performance.

“There are a lot of things that aren’t even seen in China, like these ethnic styles of performance, that are really hard to find, and which really opened me up to a new perspective.”

Lindsay Louie, Miss Chinatown 2009 says Shen Yun is a beautiful show.

“I loved it. I enjoyed it so much. What a great way to experience the Chinese culture and learn about the folklore and the fairytales and watch them come to life on stage. I thought it was a very beautiful show.”

Mr. Kincaid wants the stories in the show to live on for everyone.

[Mr. Kincaid, Church Pastor]:
“I think it’s important to preserve that you know. Not just for the Chinese people but for everybody. There is something for us all to learn from these stories. From the dance and it’s a part of world history that shouldn’t be allowed to just fade away.”
