Blast at Bosnia Police Headquarters Kills Officer

An explosion at the police headquarters of the Bosnian town of Bugojno killed one officer and injured another six early on Sunday.

An unidentified explosive device went off during the morning shift when about 25 policemen were in the building.

The explosion caused serious damage to nearby buildings and vehicles.Residents there still remember detonations of grenades fired on the town during 1992-95 war and were shocked about the explosion.

[Hidajeta Bijedic, Resident in Nearby Building]:
„Horrible, it was worse than in the war. When grenades were falling it was nothing comparing to this. Catastrophe. There was glass on his bed. All cupboards are broken.”

It was unclear whether the device had been planted or thrown at the police station.
