Art School Director Praises Shen Yun in North Carolina

Brynne Harris is a senior director at the University of North Carolina’s School of the Arts. She saw Shen Yun at the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina.

She says the traditional Chinese values, shown in the show, were very virtuous.

[Brynne Harris, Art School Senior Director]:
“That it’s a culture of forgiveness and a culture of trying to remember and remind ourselves of traditions that we believe in. Things have been lost in the totalitarian regime. There’s a level of forgiveness against them and trying to pull them out in a way that’s not a defensive revenge setting, but a, remember who you are, remember why we are together, and why peace is important.”

Her friend was charmed by the message that she found in Shen Yun.

“The spiritual awakening aspect of it is really awakening and really interesting to see. And not something that I am exposed to regularly.”

The show gave her hope that the repressive communist regime in China will be changed.

“In terms of hope I mean what I am getting from this whole experience is both hope for a change, that spiritualism is okay. And also in the arts, in the socially artists.”
