London: Men Sought for Jewel Heist

This smartly dressed duo went into Graff Jewellers in London’s up market Mayfair district. They threatened staff with handguns, and briefly took a woman hostage. The robbers then ran away with 65 million U.S. dollars worth of jewelry.

Detective Pam Mace hopes their released pictures will help someone come forward and give out information.

[Pam Mace, Detective Chief Inspector]:
„Well as you’ve seen they are fairly distinctive men within the pictures. I’m hoping that someone’s gonna say I know who that is, and ring us and tell us who it is.“

The robbers fired a shot as they left the premises. The staff member held hostage was left outside the shop and no one was injured.

The raid is thought to be one of Britain’s biggest jewel robberies.

But this is not the first time that Graff Jewellers have been raided. Six years ago an eastern European crime gang did a diamond raid at this shop worth 38 million U.S. dollars.
